Amman Vision for Investment and Development: Towards building a green city

Amman Vision and Investment Development (AVID) is a leading force in shaping Amman’s future, and that future will be mainly focusing on sustainability. We are dedicated to promoting sustainable architecture, energy-efficient buildings, and eco-friendly development throughout the city by fostering a supportive environment.

Investing in a Sustainable Future

AVID’s commitment to shaping a sustainable future for Amman aligns perfectly with the World Bank’s recent report, “Future Amman positioned at a juncture, three strategies towards climate-smart spatial transformation.” The report identifies AVID as a key player in the third strategy, which addresses the need to mobilize local resources by unlocking and leveraging public land and property assets. One of the GAM’s key steps for Land Value Capture (LVC) is calibrating land development policies and enhancing the institutional arrangement between GAM and its delegated services and asset management municipal companies such as Amman Vision for Investment and Development (AVID).

A recent report by the World Green Building Council reveals that buildings are responsible for a staggering 39% of global energy-related CO2 emissions. Here in Amman, with its population exceeding 4.8 million by the end of 2023, sustainable development is not just an option, it’s a necessity.

Harnessing Green Opportunities

AVID, acting as the investment partner of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), is committed to a sustainable future for Amman. This includes supporting innovative and eco-friendly building practices throughout the city. By fostering public understanding of these initiatives, we aim to raise awareness among our residents and stakeholders to contribute to a greener Amman.

Joining Forces for a Greener Amman

We’re tackling this challenge. AVID is excited to join forces with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, to promote awareness of green building practices among our investors. This partnership plays a critical role in fostering sustainable design and construction across Amman’s commercial and industrial sectors.

According to a study by Dodge Data & Analytics green building practices have the potential to reduce a building’s operational costs by up to 30%. By promoting sustainable building practices, we can significantly decrease Amman’s environmental footprint in several areas. This includes using less energy and water and minimizing waste throughout the construction process. Therefore, these efforts will impact the economic growth in the construction sector positively.

Green Jobs for a Greener Future

The shift towards sustainable construction will be opening doors for all sorts of talented laborers. Architects are designing innovative spaces that are energy-efficient and minimize waste. Engineers are figuring out how to use cutting-edge materials and techniques to make buildings healthier for everyone while construction workers are learning new skills to work with these eco-friendly solutions.

A report by the World Green Building Council estimates that the green building sector will create 36 million new jobs worldwide by 2030. Here in Amman, AVID is committed to fostering this growth. By prioritizing green practices, we’re not just building a sustainable city, we’re building a sustainable future for our workforces and next generations as well.

Creating a Sustainable Future, Together

AVID leads the way in shaping Amman’s sustainable future. We’re partnering strategically, and prioritizing green building practices to guarantee a vibrant, eco-friendly city for future generations, and you are welcome to join us in building a sustainable Amman!
